An Invitation
Hello! Let us introduce you to Faith. Faith United Methodist Church is a "community of positive Christian faith." We make every effort to design our
ministries, programs and services to fit the life-demands of today's families and to promote the wonderful values of our Christian faith. We do this by focusing on four very important principles for successful living: Community, Personal Strength, Flexibility and a Giving Heart.
- Community - A community is a place where people care for one another, share common goals, and work together to accomplish good. We are talking about networking with
friends! A community includes all ages and abilities. Not only do we need our peer groups, we need those of other generations, so many of our programs are designed to intentionally do things together. Our purpose is to develop a sense of community or, if you will, an extended family.
- Personal Strength - A healthy community helps its members live their lives to the fullest. Therefore, at Faith, we will encourage and support you in the fulfillment of your personal priorities...we are not here to compete with them. We see ourselves not as another organization to join, but as a group that provides spiritual strength, encouragement and support for the goals and priorities
that you have set for yourself. Everyone needs friends to support them; we want to be that for you. Day by day we need to develop our personal strength. That's why we like the prayer of Richard of Chichester, who wrote in the 13th Century:
Day by day, O Dear Lord,
three things I pray-
to see thee more clearly,
to love thee more dearly,
to follow thee more nearly, Day by day.
- Flexibility - We respect the demands that are placed upon your time. We understand how busy life can be. Our programming is flexible enough to allow you to be heavily involved during one period of time and more casually active in another. The responsibilities of today require flexibility. We understand that and plan for it.
- A Giving Heart - We know that we can't make life perfect, but we believe we can help make life better. Jesus Christ teaches us that we are to be "the salt of the earth". We want to improve the 'flavor' of the world; we want to make a positive difference in peoples' lives...we could use your help. When the committees and teams meet in our church it is not to talk, but to plan what to do. We believe all people want to have something to show for their efforts. We are constantly looking for ways to serve and to reach out
to others in need.
If this is what you are looking for, then we invite you to join us on Sunday morning for worship, fellowship and growth in faith. Whether you are single or married, young or old, a large family or no family we believe you will find
Faith United Methodist Church an exciting and helpful community for the development of a positive Christian Faith.
We realize that each person's faith development is a personal journey, but it should never be walked alone. We invite you to join us and we will walk it together.

A Story of Faith
Faith United Methodist Church started life as Fox Chapel Methodist Church. Fox Chapel Methodist Church began in 1891 as a small frame chapel on the old John Fox homestead. It became a landmark, and by 1915 gave its name to Fox Chapel Road and eventually became the name of the borough that grew around it. In 1958 a new brick building was dedicated on a scenic plot of ground a short distance from the original site.
In 1994, Fox Chapel United Methodist closed its doors for a short period of reorganization and emerged one month later as Faith UMC. With a new sense of purpose, Faith began to grow with new programs and mission projects. We continue to grow today as we work together to build a new sanctuary on our property.

Our Vision Statement
We, the people of the Faith United Methodist Church, will join hands with God to bring God's dream of abundant life to all. Indeed, hope is for all people...especially the hopeless, grace is for all people...especially the undeserving, and personal triumph is for all people...especially those struggling against adversity. Therefore, to join with God in making His dream a reality, it is our responsibility to grow in our faith and to do that which will bring love and happiness to others. Furthermore, we will do that which will assist others in experiencing the triumphal power of God at work in the adversities and challenges of their life.
We join hands with one another committing ourselves to being people of persevering faith knowing that with God nothing is impossible. Our faith is in God's mercy that forgives all our failings, that renews our life, and shares with us God's power. We have faith in God's ability to work in us and others. Therefore, we will work together to do the impossible believing that God's grace, presence, and power is with us individually and collectively.
We join hands with our community and world that we might experience companionship along life's journey. We believe a world in which hands are joined will be a world of peace, a world free from meaningless stress, a world that experiences the gifts of rest, reflection, and renewal. Therefore, we will appreciate others for who they are, just as we are thankful to God for creating us the way we are. And yet, we seek not to be complacent in our personal and faith development. Rather, we commit ourselves to that which will inspire our hearts, expand our minds, and increase our knowledge of God's will.
We, the people of the Faith United Methodist Church, with folded hands will thank God for sharing with us His triumphal power, with strong hands we will serve God in faith living, and hand in hand we will walk together the upward path of God's will.
